Michael Lang From Trainwreck Woodstock ‘99: Wikipedia, Cause of Death, Wife & Net Worth of the Woodstock Festival’s Promoter & Artist Manager!

Michael Lang was a concert organizer, producer, artist manager, and author who co-founded the Woodstock festival. The festival was organized for the very first time in 1969 and was later organized in 1994, 1999, and 2019 as well. He was married to his wife, Tamara Pajic Lang. Netflix documentary, Trainwreck: Woodstock '99, examines everything that went wrong at the festival. While Michael Lang died on January 8, 2022, his cause of death was Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Additionally, he had a net worth of $10 million at the time of his death.

Michael Scott Lang, a co-founder of Woodstock, wanted to recreate the music festival in 1999 in an effort to recapture the spirit of the original, which took place in 1969. The three-day festival, however, rapidly turned chaotic as people looted and vandalized the area. The three-part documentary series Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 on Netflix featured conversations with the festival organizers.

Michael Lang played a crucial role in the entertainment industry as a concert organizer, producer, artist manager, and author almost from the moment he first appeared on the scene in the 1960s. This is because of the fact that, after only a few years in his profession, he not only co-founded but also gained a reputation as the face of the Woodstock Music Festival, organizing all of its subsequent editions.

As a result, viewers are interested to know more about him and his cause of them. Well, we've got you covered. Here is everything we know about Michael Lang.

Previously, we touched on David Derosia, John Scher, the number of people there were at Woodstock 99, and the trench mouth condition.

Trainwreck Woodstock ‘99: Michael Lang Was a Concert Organizer, Producer, Artist Manager, and Author Who Was the Co-founder of the Woodstock Festival; Wikipedia, Cause of Death, Wife, Net Worth & More!

Michael Lang was the co-founder of the renowned Woodstock Festival which was first introduced in 1969 for the first time. The festival was later organized again in 1994, 1999, and 2019 which were not quite as successful as the first one. Additionally, he died on January 8, 2022, and his cause of death was Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Despite being raised in a middle-class, Jewish household in Brooklyn, New York, where he was born on December 11, 1944, Michael Lang never let anything or anyone stop him. He actually left New York University in 1967, then moved to Miami, Florida, where he opened a head shop (paraphernalia specializing retail store) after settling there.

Michael immediately started working behind the scenes at musical events and this quickly led to the great chance to organize the 1968 Pop & Underground Festival. Michael's inspiration for a peaceful, loving, self-sufficient, and neighborhood-driven celebration came from this specific event, especially with a variety of performers on stage. He once explained,

I was amazed at the effect music had on the kids. This was a college-age, late high school-age audience,…and looking at their faces and the way music sort of transformed them really started me in that direction.

Michael Lang eventually managed to organize what can only be characterized as magic, Woodstock 1969, after moving to Woodstock, New York, the same year and by chance meeting all the right individuals.

With his partners and promoters, Michael did try to somewhat replicate the undeniable success by staging the event again in 1994, 1999, and 2019, but none of those attempts went particularly well. Due to a storm tearing down the walls and allowing attendees unrestricted entry, Woodstock '94 was a financial disaster, while Woodstock '99 was literally chaos with brutality, violence, and even a riot.

Michael Lang had managed to build a good life for himself despite the highs and lows of Woodstock by becoming, as mentioned above, a producer, artist manager, author, and sculptor.

In fact, he also founded the Just Sunshine Record record label in 1971 and even provided funding for several Woodstock-related documentaries, including A Bright Light, Woodstock: The Lost Performances, and Woodstock: Now & Then.

Unfortunately, after 77 years of happiness, Michael Lang passed away at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma on January 8, 2022. Michael was vocal and proud of every element of his life. His wife Tamara Pajic Lang, his two sons Harry Lang and Laszlo Lang, and his three daughters Molly Lang, LariAnn Lang, and Shala Lang Moll are all left to mourn his death.
