Jessica Dube’s Scar: How Is It Now? Face Injury & 2023 Update! blurred-reality.com

Jessica Dube still has a large visible scar on her face in 2023 that runs across her cheek and over the bridge of her nose. She got it from an injury in 2007 by the blader of her partner Bryce Davison’s skate. Her cheek and eyelid were slashed by the skate blade, but she did not lose her eye.

The former Canadian figure skater underwent surgery and got more than 80 stitches to repair the damage, and she recovered completely. However, her face still has a visible scar from the accident, but she claims she is not self-conscious about it now. She has even used her scar to raise awareness of the risk associated with figure skating.

Figure skating, as lovely as it may appear, is a highly dangerous sport. Jessica Dube was sliced in the face by her partner Bryce Davidson’s skate on February 8, 2007.

The incident occurred as the couple was performing the side-by-side flying camel. Both skaters must spin side by side on one leg while the other leg is extended. This happens as the razor-sharp blades, which are only an eighth of an inch wide, rotate at a mind-boggling 60 miles per hour.

Davison stepped in too close during the third revolution of the flying camel, and his skate sliced Dube directly below the left eye. It was a horrible sight to see the left side of her face slashed from the nose almost to the ear. Does she still have the scar? Well here is what we have covered.

Previously, we touched on the stories of Tyler Childers and Tom Hanks.

Jessica Dube (@jessica.dubz) has a long scar on her face that runs across her cheek and over the bridge of her nose. She was slashed in the face during the long program in 2007 by the blader of her partner Bryce Davison‘s skate.

Her cheek and eyelid were slashed by the skate blade, but she did not lose her eye. She underwent surgery and got more than 80 stitches to repair the damage, and she recovered completely. The accident occurred on February 7, 2007, during a practice session at Calgary’s Olympic Oval.

Bryce Davison, Dube’s partner, was skating backward when he accidentally kicked up his skate blade. Dube fell to the ice as the blade sliced through her cheek and nose.

Dube and Davidson were skating side-by-side, performing flying camels, when his blade sliced her face on the third rotation. Dube immediately clutched her face and dropped to the ice, where medical personnel lifted her onto a stretcher for transport.

Jessica Dube was taken to the hospital and had surgery to repair the damage. She was kept in a Colorado Springs hospital overnight for observation.  A few days later, she was discharged from the hospital.

Jessica recovered completely from the accident and was able to compete again. At the 2007 World Championship, she and Davison finished tenth in the pairs event. Dube retired from figure skating in 2013 due to a foot injury.

However, her face still has a visible scar from the accident, but she claims she is not self-conscious about it. She has also shared the incident on Instagram.

She has even used her scar to raise awareness of the risk associated with figure skating. In 2010, Jessica appeared in Canadian Red Cross commercial in which she discussed her accident and how it made her a stronger person.

The Canadian former competitive figure skater is no longer competing in figure skating, but she remains active in the sport. She is a motivational speaker and a coach.

Jessica Dube also collaborates with the Canadian Olympic Committee to promote the sport among youth. Dube was only 25 years old when she retired from a successful career in competitive figure skating, but she had been in the sport for 21 years.

Her glory days of winning national and world championships with skating partner Bryce Davidson and later Sebastien Wolfe were not without flaws.

Dube was injured several times during her most successful years, from 2007 to 2009. She announced her retirement from skating in September 2013, citing the difficulty of training due to her persistent foot injury.
