Since Heartstopper Season 2 ends on a cliffhanger, many people wonder if Charlie dies as he previously mentioned that he tried to kill himself (self-harm) as a result of getting bullied. And yes, he doesn’t die in books as well.
Heartstopper on Netflix, created by Alice Oseman, is a British coming-of-age love drama that follows the heartwarming story of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, whose friendship gradually grows into something more. Both learn more about themselves and each other as time passes.
The first season of the show became an instant hit as soon as it was released on April 2022. The show was eventually renewed for 2 more seasons. And finally, the second season has arrived on the streaming platform.
Of course, viewers have a lot of queries about the latest season. In this article, we will be addressing one of them. Many people have been wanting to know if Charlie dies. Well, let’s find out what the truth is and why actually people wonder if he might be dead.

During their Paris trip in Episode 6, Nick and Charlie have a deepest heart-to-heart conversation. Following a joyful prom and after-party with their closest friends, Nick questions Charlie about the homophobic bullying he experienced before they met.
Charlie reveals the deep pain caused by bullying after two seasons of keeping in far more than Nick thought. Charlie admits to self-harming at times as a result of his experience. However, Charlie promises to let Nick know if he ever feels so “bad” again.
Throughout the season, Nick begins to suspect that “something” is keeping Charlie back. But the young men also use that time to bond and learn more about one another. Nick and Charlie had shared a “beautiful montage” of post-prom memories with their closest friends by the finale‘s last moment.
The scene makes Charlie and Nick feel so close that they almost say, “I love you.” Nick is cut off when his mother, Sarah, returns home; Charlie makes up a DM declaring his love for Nick, but Heartstopper Season 2 goes to black before he can send it.
And that’s it. That is the reason why so many wonder if Charlie dies in Season 2. Additionally, he had previously mentioned self-harming as well. While the season ends on a cliffhanger, we don’t think Charlie self-harms at the moment and dies.
After all, he is one of our main protagonists. Similarly, there’s a lot more for both Charlie and Nick to discover as per Alice Oseman‘s books. And yes, the book has not hinted anything about his possible death yet.

In a rare double renewal, Netflix ordered season 3 of Heartstopper when it renewed it for season 2 in May 2022. As a result, after you finish season 2, you won’t have to worry about the show’s fate or whether it will be canceled. Heartstopper season 3 has already been renewed by Netflix.
Season 3 of Heartstopper is yet to begin filming as of August 2023. What’s on Netflix stated in April 2023 that the third season will begin production in October 2023. However, news of a supposed filming start date surfaced before the dual strikes.
It is currently uncertain whether or not Heartstopper season 3 will be delayed due to the writers’ strike or the Screen Actors Guild strike. Because it was shot in the United Kingdom, there may be some leeway, though the actors’ strike may offer the most significant possible obstacle.
On the other hand, Heartstopper season 2 adapted Heartstopper, Volume 3 by Alice Oseman, according to Vulture, and the creator-writer said that season 2 incorporated additional narratives not covered in the book. Season 3 might thus be based on Heartstopper, Volume 4.
Oseman confirmed that volume 5, which was supposed to be the final edition in the Heartstopper graphic novel series and would be released in December 2023, will be followed by two further volumes. Volume 6 follows the fifth volume.
