Since Ji Hwan Bae has just started his MLB career, it seems he is completely focused on his baseball career right now. On the other hand, there's a high chance he might have a girlfriend in private but does not want to share it with the public. Given how his previous relationship ended, we can assume he is keeping things private.

In 2018, he was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Seul-Gi Kim, after she filed a police case stating that he slapped, choked, and kicked her. According to The Atheltic, Seu-Gi told via text message:

Bae Ji-hwan hit me. He hit me in Daegu. The first time I was (physically) abused was on New Year’s Eve (in 2017). There (also) was verbal abuse. Before the actual physical abuse, I was under critical stress due to him and his family. His family and he repeatedly asked me to ‘endure’ him because he is a baseball player and he needs support.

Kim shared images of what she said were injuries Ji Hwan Bae had left on her body on her Instagram page. One of the photos had the following caption: “I will find a way to take care of this problem by legal means.” The reported event allegedly took place on New Year's Eve of 2017. According to Kim, Bae “threatened me he would die if I didn’t see him again. Also, he squeezed my throat until I (said) that I would love him again.”

He was later found guilty by a South Korean court of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Kim. However, he did not serve a prison sentence and was ordered to pay 2 million won (less than $2K USD).

Thus, we can understand why Ji Hwan Bae has been secretive about his dating life. However, we'll surely get back to you as soon as we get any further information about his possible girlfriend (if any).

Ji Hwan Bae’s Early Career!

Ji Hwan Bae was born on July 26, 1999, in Daegu, South Korea to his parents, Jeong Tae-ok and Bae Jae-dong. He was a lifelong supporter of South Korean professional baseball before his idol Shin-Shoo Choo signed with the Cleveland Indians, sparking his interest in Major League Baseball.

He was signed by the Atlanta Braves on September 23, 2017. On November 21, 2017, the MLB suspended his Braves contract as a result of deceptive negotiations. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in March 2018 for a $1.25 million bonus. He progressed through several minor league organizations, including the Peoria Javelinas and the Altoona Curve. He also attended the Fall Stars of the Arizona Fall League game.

Prior to making his Pittsburgh Pirates debut on September 23, 2022, Bae spent the majority of 2022 with the Indianapolis Indians. Bae had a single, stole two bases, and walked once in his debut game with the Pirates.
