However, the actor has always been open about how his father influenced his acting career throughout the years. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via People) in 2014, he told,

It feels very kind of surreal because he didn’t see a lot of my acting abilities. I do feel his presence and I know somewhere he’s proud of me. I really got to see my dad enjoy every day that he was working … Everybody should be able to have this much fun when they go to work. He really paved that way for us and so here I am.

Furthermore, Tyler Ritter tried his hand at acting in high school, but after his father died, he chose to pursue another job. He then worked as a teacher for several years in Argentina after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania.
