Is A Journal for Jordan Based on a True Story?

Yes. A Journal for Jordan is based on the true account of First Sergeant Charles Monroe King.

As per Variety, King was bombed in Iraq in 2006, when his baby boy was only seven months old, but his wife, writer Dana Canedy, collected all of the touching messages in a book for their child.

Dana's boy, Jordan Canedy, is now 16 and she works as a publishing professional at Simon & Schuster.

As stated by CNBC, the renowned reporter was also the first lady and the first individual of color to oversee the Pulitzer Prizes, a position she held from 2017 to 2020.

The fresh trailer for A Journal for Jordan shows Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan in his portrayal as the late 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe King, a legitimate soldier, and parent.

A Journal for Jordan is based on the true story of Monroe King, who wrote letters to his baby child Jordan, imparting wisdom and valuable lessons before being slain in Iraq.

The movie is based on Dana Canedy's novel A Journal for Jordan: A Story of Love and Honor, published in 2008. Canedy is King's fiancée and Jordan's mom.

The trailer for the movie based on the narrative of King and Canedy has now been released by USA Today Entertainment.

The clip establishes A Journal for Jordan as a grandiose and dramatic love story in which Michael B. Jordan gets to show off his softer side.

The trailer highlights the disparity between King's two extreme worlds by scaling back and forth between warm and pleasant family moments and disturbing battle sequences.

A Journal for Jordan was helmed by Denzel Washington, who also served as the director for the Oscar-winning Fences (2016), and scripted by Virgil Williams, who was shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on Mudbound (2017).

In addition to Jordan, Chanté Adams plays Dana Canedy in this picture, which is based on a true story. The movie hits theatres on 10th December 2021.
