Usama Ishtay, one of the cast members of Netflix’s Next in Fashion Season 2, was born and raised in a family of Syrian immigrants in Venezuela, where the women in his family who studied and worked in fashion design had a big influence on his fashion sense. As per Reddit users, owning a clothing store in Venezuela sparked his interest in making his own clothes, and after moving to Los Angeles in 2015, he began studying fashion design and launching his own label.

Fashion reality TV shows are worth watching because of the glam, models, elegance, and creativity. Similarly, Netflix‘s Next in Fashion made a triumphant return for season 2. It featured 12 aspiring fashion designers and stellar guest judges, as well as hosts Gigi Hadid and Tan France. However, nothing can compare to the incredible designers who overcame obstacles to reach the top.

Likely, the new group of 12 talented emerging designers will compete for a $200,000 prize and the opportunity to debut their collection with Rent the Runway. One designer may be well-known for dressing celebrities such as Tyra Banks, Carrie Underwood, Chiquis Rivera, and Lauren London.

Usama Ishtay, one of 12 designers competing for the top spot, appeared in the second iteration and attempted to showcase his creative side in the fashion game. As a result, many people, especially Reddit users, have been obsessed with the Syrian-Venezuelan- based designer and want to know more about him, including his age. Well, we’ve got you covered.

Usama Ishtay From Next in Fashion Season 2: The Syrian-Venezuelan Designer Was the First Contestant to Get Eliminated!

Usama Ishtay (@usamaishtay), from Netflix’s Next in Fashion Season 2 is a Syrian-Venezuelan designer who entered the fashion industry to showcase his talent and authentic self. Even though he was the first contestant eliminated from the show’s second season, there is no doubt about the designer’s incredible talent. Usama has also been the CEO, Owner, and Fashion Designer of his company since 2015.

Usama has styled celebrities such as Tyra Banks, Carrie Underwood, Anitta, Thalia, Chiquis Rivera, Jeannie Mai, Paulina Rubio, Lauren Jauregui, Ariadna Gutiérrez, and Nikita Dragun. Not only that, but Gaby Espino wore one of his designs to the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Lauren London wore a white, form-fitting design from his collection to the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Previously, the designer had also styled rapper Icy Bae (Saweetie) in 2022 for Cher‘s (@cher) appearance in the most recent MAC Cosmetics ad. In March 2022, the former Petroleum Engineer and Geologist will show his collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week. Usama worked as the Creative Director at Melissa Mercedes from 2017 to 2020 before launching his own line.

The designer worked as the Team Leader, Production Manager, and Creative Director for a high-end plus-size business in Los Angeles that specializes in ready-to-wear and couture evening gowns, among other things. As an Assistant Designer, the Design Institute of Caracas alum also worked on Martin Zepeda Designs‘ logo. He recently collaborated with Saweetie and debuted his line at Los Angeles Fashion Week in 2022.

Usama Ishtay was a talented designer who appeared on the Netflix show. His design line reflects his personality, which he describes as regal with a dash of sass. Usama appeared on the show in order to impress the judges and use the platform to demonstrate how unique and creative his designs can be. He wanted to create a royal outfit for the first challenge, Royalty, and his inspiration and muse was Latin Queen Jennifer Lopez (@jlo). He chose a long-sleeved dress with a straight-cut skirt and numerous zippers to add the “wow luxe effect” in a stunning black and gold fabric.

Usama managed to keep his classic strong shoulders design that emphasizes his brand. The entire ensemble screamed royalty, and fans could see the sexiness that he exudes in all of his designs. Usama never had the opportunity to be himself growing up in a small village in Venezuela, so after moving to the United States, he attempted to express himself through his designs. His brand reflects his personality, which is bold, modern, edgy, and fearless.

Despite his best efforts, Usama appeared to be confused about the assignment and failed to impress the judges in the way he would have hoped. His dress did not impress the judges, who thought it was already seen and not new. On the one hand, they adored the coat, which had a J.Lo vibe to it, but the dress did not complement it. Unfortunately, Usama was eliminated in the first challenge due to the reasons mentioned.
