Lockwood & Co. on Netflix is a British teen thriller series based on Jonathan Anthony Stroud‘s eponymous book series. It revolves around two teenage boys who establish a small startup — Lockwood & Co. — to combat the spirits. They are joined by a psychically gifted girl and set out on a ghost-hunting adventure with no adult supervision or financial motives.
The three teenagers go to great lengths to solve a mystery that will change the course of history. The action-adventure show, starring Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, and Michael Clarke, keeps viewers on the edge of their seats throughout each episode as the protagonists deal with several spirits on their own.
In the series, Cameron Chapman plays the mysterious Anthony Lockwood who is the owner of Lockwood & Co., a place where he can hunt ghosts and try to escape his dark past without being questioned. With the gravitas Cameron brings to his leading role in Lockwood & Co., you’d think he had prior acting experience in major roles. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Anthony Lockwood on Lockwood & Co. is Cameron’s first major acting role.

Cameron Chapman (@cameronchapman) (born July 18, 2000, age 22) is a theatre artist who has recently entered the acting industry as the lead character, Anthony Lockwood, in the action-packed Netflix mini-series, Lockwood & Co.
This drama directed by William McGregor is based on Jonathan Stroud‘s novel, which tells the story of two young men and a girl with extraordinary psychic abilities who go ghost hunting. An aspiring actor is rarely cast as the protagonist in their first film, but Cameron was given this opportunity and proved that he was deserving of it.
For those who are unaware, Cameron Chapman has also worked on a number of plays at the Richard Burton Theatre Company. He has also performed in several stage productions, including The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Uncle Vanya at RWCMD.
The 22-year-old star was born in Greater London, England, to a Catholic family. He was only six years old when his mother forced him to enroll in a local acting academy after witnessing him impersonating a movie scene. Cameron kept learning acting as a hobby for years, but when the time came to choose a career path, he decided to become an actor.
His close friends warned him about the cutthroat competition in the entertainment industry, but he ignored them. He enrolled in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2018 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in acting.
Cameron Chapman landed the role of Vanya in an RWCMD theater production called Uncle Vanya while in college. A year later, he worked on another stage production, this time as Launce in The Gentlemen of Verona. Cameron also collaborated with the Richard Burton Theatre Company on stage acts such as Terroir, The Writer, and Twelfth Night Remembered in addition to RWCMD.
Few people are aware that this young man also appeared in the short film Dove. Cam also appeared in the Lee Haven-Jones-directed film as a young man named Ben. Cameron began looking for casting auditions during his final year of college and connected with Independent Talent Group.
His agent once told him to audition for a project starring William McGregor. When the young actor arrived at the audition location, he saw a lot of other aspiring actors waiting for their turn, but he didn’t get nervous and gave an excellent performance; Kharmel Cochrane, the show’s casting director, was impressed with his performance and chose him to play the lead character Anthony Lockwood.
Is Lockwood & Co. an Adaptation of a Book?
The first Lockwood & Co. series is based on Jonathon Stroud‘s fantasy novel series of the same name, which was published between 2013 and 2017. The Lockwood & Co series consists of five novels: The Screaming Staircase, The Whispering Skull, The Hollow Boy, The Creeping Shadow, and The Empty Grave, as well as one short story, The Dagger in the Desk.
Joe Cornish, who also wrote Attack the Block and Ant-Man, adapted the Netflix series, which is mostly based on the first two installments. The Screaming Staircase, the first book in the series, depicts London under attack by sinister ghosts, specters, and other supernatural beings.
Because only teenagers can see these ghouls, it is up to the city’s teenagers to track them down and exterminate them. The invasion of the paranormal has resulted in a cottage industry of detective agencies competing in the high-stakes work of ghost hunting.
