Brooks Atwood enrolled in the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1994 and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree with valedictorian honors. He enrolled at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation that year, earning a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design in 2003.

Brooks started Brooks Atwood Design in August 2003 after becoming an Architect and Project Designer for Archi-Tectonics.
