Despite being first-generation Mexican immigrants who were born and raised in Houston, Mayra, Lupe, and the rest of the Guillén family have always been proud of their heritage. As a result, they are a close-knit family that has never drifted too far apart, which is why the former, the eldest daughter, felt bad when she realized Vanessa Guillen might have gotten hurt.
