Why Do People Not Like Brie Larson? blurred-reality.com

People do not like Brie Larson for more than enough reasons. She initially got backlash after she made harsh comments regarding white male critics. People also hate her character (Captain Marvel) being described as the strongest character in the MCU. Similarly, fans believe she does not get along with the other MCU cast.

Many fantastic characters, superheroes, and villains may be found in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It consists of 32 theatrical films and 10 Disney+ series and movies with intricately intertwined tales, and fans have fallen in love with the franchise’s characters. Though everyone has a favorite, one figure that is unfairly criticized is Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel made her MCU début in a solo film of the same name, where fans met one of the MCU’s most powerful formidable characters. Though the announcement of Brie Larson as the actor taking on the role was met with jubilation by the majority of the fanbase, a vocal minority of the fanbase reacted with vitriol from the start, refusing to give the actress or the character she would portray a chance to be introduced before spewing hate.

This was worsened by the film’s release since some fans now hate both Brie Larson and Captain Marvel. In this article, we’ll be discussing why do people not like Brie Larson. Let’s just get started.

Previously, we discussed the stories of Bruce Willis and Chrystia Freeland.

People Do Not Like Brie Larson for Multiple Reasons!

We do not deny the fact that Brie Larson (@brielarson) is a very good actress and has even proved herself in many projects previously. However, she has been receiving a lot of hate ever since she portrayed Captain Marvel in the MCU. But who do people not like Brie Larson? Is it because of her acting?

Well, it may be difficult to believe, but fans were excited when Brie was announced as Captain Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con. She was greeted with a tremendous ovation from the audience. After all, she had not only won an Academy Award for Best Actress for Room a few months ago but she was also known for appearing in several fan-favorite genre ventures, including 21 Jump Street and the smash sitcom Community. Marvel seemed to have found the ideal Captain Marvel.

The backlash against her began in 2018, when, during a speech at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles, she cited a then-recent USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative study that found in 2017, only 2.5% of top critics were women of color, while 80% of film critics who reviewed the year’s top box-office movies were male.

Larson emphasized this point by bringing up the film A Wrinkle in Time, which had been released months before and had underperformed at the box office and with critics. She said,

I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color.

Larson further stated that her purpose was not to exclude men, particularly white men, but to include people who have been historically neglected. Wanting more diversity in film reviews is a positive thing that has been going on for years. Raising new voices is how films that were formerly critically criticized or mixed are culturally reconsidered years later. That is only one aspect of film criticism.

On the other hand, many people believe Brie Larson gets all the hate because of Marvel itself. According to them, Marvel made the mistake any announcing her character as the strongest character in the MCU. Taking to Quora, a user wrote,

I think Marvel made a bad, bad mistake by simply announcing that she was the strongest hero yet. For one thing, in the comics, she simply isn’t, faithful readers are going to feel shortchanged when the product is that far from canon.

Moreover, this was never done in the earlier movies. Thor is undoubtedly powerful, so is the Hulk. It was never explicitly stated that one was more powerful than the other. Heck, the less-powerful Iron Man has given each a good run for their money.

People Believe Brie Larson Does Not Get Along With Other MCU Cast!

Following the release of Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, Brie Larson faced additional challenges. She was now a part of a vast group of celebrities and popular superheroes.

Many viewed her to be a ‘freshman’ in the Marvel series, compared to veterans such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and others.

However, Brie’s interactions with other actresses during interviews were weird, unpleasant, and tense in multiple instances. Her actions on such occasions gave the appearance that she felt she was superior to others, and she made some condescending comments when her colleagues were irritated. As a result, when fans spotted this, they got the sense that Brie was the one ruining the pleasant feeling among their favorite Avengers.
