Jay isn’t dead. However, he has lost all of his memories in LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising and is featured in one of the episodes as the manager of realm reassignment. So, what really happened to him? Find it out.
LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising on Netflix is an enthralling expansion of the LEGO Ninjago universe that is a sequel to the 15 seasons-long Ninjago series that aired from 2011 to 2022.
It is produced by animation studio WildBrain Studios, which switched to Unreal Engine 5 to enhance the quality of their animation. Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt are the film’s primary writers. While the first part of the show debuted on June 1, 2023, the second part of the show just arrived on the streaming platform a few days ago.
After several realms merged to become one, a lot of things characters are missing in this Ninjago spin-off, including Jay. He is just shown in one episode where he is in the administration. As a result, viewers wonder what really happened to him. Well, let’s discuss it together.

Is Jay Dead? What Happened to Him in Ninjago: Dragons Rising?
Many viewers were shocked after they found that many characters, including Jay, were not really a part of the LEGO Ninjago: Dragons Rising plot. Jay, one of the important characters, is featured in one episode in which we see him in the administration. As a result, people want to know where he is and what really happened to him. Is he dead?
Well, he isn’t. Jay was separated from his fellow ninjas after the Merge and ended up in the Administration, where he eventually rose to the position of manager of realm reassignment. He lost his memory while there to the extent that he could no longer recall his past or the other ninja.
He also does not remember being a ninja and is just a manager of the realm reassignment. He seems off in the series. The only thing that seems to have in common in Dragons Rising with his previous self is his love for video games. All we know so far is that Jay has lost his memories, including being a ninja and his love life with Nia.

Having said that, there’s a high chance Season 2 of Dragons Rising will explore Jay’s storyline, including how he lost his memory. Did he bump his head during the Merge or did the administration intentionally wipe his mind? We shall find it in the second season.

He discovered his other teammates, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, and Kai, with whom he went on many adventures and engaged in combat with the likes of the Serpentine and the Stone Army. He acquired techniques such as Spinjitzu. Jay began a love involvement with Nya during this time.
After Lloyd defeated the Overlord, things were peaceful until the Overlord reappeared and built an army of Nindroids using Zane’s blueprints. After Zane appeared to have passed away, a love triangle developed between Jay, Nya, and Cole. Following Zane’s death, the ninja split up, but after discovering that he had survived, they set off for Chen’s Island and registered for the Tournament of Elements.
The ninja and Elemental Masters engaged the Anacondrai Cultists in battle while Cole made apologies to Jay for his connection with Nya. Soon after, Jay would teach the ninja a new fighting art called Airjitzu while helping them in combat with Morro and a horde of cursed spirits.
They would then encounter Nadakhan, who imprisoned many of the ninjas in his sword. Nya was poisoned by the Tiger Widow‘s venom and killed during Jay and Nya’s fight with the Sky Pirates, thus Jay used his dying wish to reverse the previous actions.
