Wave was arrested on a criminal accusation of violence by strangulation on May 2, 2022. He was charged with choking his girlfriend inside their house while their two kids were present, according to an arrest warrant affidavit at the time. On May 19, 2022, the Osceola County Attorney’s Office said they would no longer be filing charges in the case. Despite that, the couple were reportedly in an on-and-off relationship.
Most recently, he was accused of cheating on the mother of his twin daughters with an Instagram influencer. Later, Rod took to his Instagram stories to deny those accusations. In response, Rod wrote,

Even though Rod Wave’s longtime girlfriend, Kelsey, had indicated that they were still together through her Instagram, we are unsure if it’s the same case at the moment as Kelsey has deleted her Instagram profile, indicating they’ve split once again. One thing we’re certain of is that the two never got married.
