Jose Antonio Ibarra & His Partner Got Married for Their Asylum Cases!
Jose Antonio Ibarra’s wife, Layling Franco, recently revealed some details about their background and their motive to move to the United States. She even said that they got married for their asylum cases.
According to Franco, the couple along with their 5-year-old son crossed the border into the United States in September of last year and spent some time in New York City, where Ibarra worked for several food delivery app companies. The couple split in November, and Ibarra moved to Georgia to live with his brother, Diego, who reportedly has a link to UGA.

Speaking to the New York Post about the allegations against Ibarra, Franco said the charges do not reflect the calm man she knew and that she would like to speak with him. Despite this, she added that if the claims are true, he should “pay for what he did.”
Yesterday when [Jose] was arrested, my brother-in-law called me early to say he’d been arrested. We got married so we could join our asylum cases. He was the person I thought I could see through. We’ve known each other our entire lives…He wasn’t aggressive, none of that. We had problems as a couple but our problems weren’t physical. We wouldn’t punch but we’d raise our voices…I want to talk to [Jose]. I have a lot of faith that this wasn’t him, that there was a misunderstanding somewhere. But if he did, he has to pay for what he did, truly.

New York City police also arrested Ibarra in September 2023, and charged him with “acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.”
The NYPD freed him “before a detainer could be issued,” the agency stated. When queried regarding ICE’s claims about Ibarra’s arrest and release, New York’s deputy commissioner of information stated that there was no arrest for Ibarra on record. Following Ibarra’s arrest on Friday, the Atlanta Field Office of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations has issued a detainer, according to the agency.
