Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump White House aide, described this week the time her own Donald Trump-supporting father turned down her request for assistance in finding a lawyer who was not associated with Trump when she received a subpoena to testify before the House committee looking into the January 6, 2021 uprising.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of The Last Word, MSNBC‘s Lawrence O’Donnell read her a passage from the audiobook version of Hutchinson’s most recent book, Enough.
Hutchinson then recalled how her father told her she didn’t have to cooperate with the congressional subpoena and that the inquiry was merely a “witch-hunt” against Trump, tossing it in the garbage.
Hutchinson’s father then stated in the video that he “prayed I was not there to ask for money to pay for a corrupt lawyer” and claimed that he “had raised me better than to turn my back on the people who cared about me, people like himself and Donald.”
