Is the Tailor on Netflix Based on a True Story?

According to The Cinemaholic, Part of The Tailor is based on a real event. The author Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu‘s short story serves as the basis for the television show. The screenwriters Rana Mamatlıoğlu and Bekir Baran Sıtkı turned it into a movie script. Onur Güvenatam is recognized as the series’ creator, and Cem Karci served as the project’s director. Therefore, it is safe to say that the television series was shaped by the creative quartet. However, despite what a few sources have stated, it’s unlikely that the show accurately depicts actual events.

The show’s fundamental plot was conceived by Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu. Budayıcıoğlu is a well-known television and novelist in Turkey. She did, however, begin her career as a psychiatrist before switching to television hosting and eventually writing and publishing her own novels. Many of Budaycolu’s novels, including Madalyonun İçi, Camdaki Kız, and Hayata Dön have been used as the basis for popular television programs. According to some reports, the third book by the author to be published, Hayata Dön, was the inspiration for The Tailor.

It also includes a number of stories and anecdotes that the author utilizes to sculpt the story. The Tailor doesn’t seem to be a literal adaptation of the novel, though. Instead, it’s more likely that some of Budayıcıoğlu‘s other interactions with her patients served as inspiration for the show.
